Dale Rodevick: Lead Trombone and Section Leader
(with his son, Blake, "Crabtowne Big Band-The Next Generation.")Dale has been playing trombone for 30 years (since 7 years old). He is one of the only two original members in the band.
After high school, Dale joined the Navy and was a musician in the Atlantic Fleet Navy Band for 4 1/2 years, starting on bass trombone and playing lead the last few years. Since then, Dale has played in many other big bands in the area, and in 1996 came back to, as he puts it, "the original and the best big band going, Crabtowne Big Band."
Dale's greatest musical influences were Bill Yakaitis, Crabtowne lead alto sax, and his elementary school music teacher; R. Thomas Powell, the Severna Park high school band director; and Bill Watrous, jazz trombonist-recording artist.
Dale currently is an electronic technician full time but hopes someday he can perform as a career.
