The Crabtowne Big Band, an 18 piece swing band that plays a little bit of
everything, has been entertaining audiences in the Annapolis, Baltimore,
and Washington area since 1981. The band recreates music from the era of Duke Ellington, Tommy
Dorsey, Glenn Miller and Count Basie Orchestras. It also performs big band
arrangements of the music of modern pop stars as diverse as Lionel Ritchie,
Bobby McFerrin, Barbra Streisand, and Brian Setzer. Here's a note from one
of our favorite arrangers:

The band performs annually at the Severn Town Club's Holly Ball and has
become a repeat attraction for the Washington Swing Dance Society,
Washington Big Band Society and for the past 7 years at the
AAC Cultural Arts
Foundation's

In addition, the band has appeared at the
Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the National Press Club In
Washington, D.C. and has performed for functions at many of the major
ballrooms in the Annapolis/Baltimore area. The band has also had the honor
of playing with such well-known local artists as vocalist Ethel Ennis and jazz guitarist John Pizzarelli.
Over the past several years, among several very fine acts, Crabtowne Big Band
has been the featured entertainment on board the

fully functional Liberty Ships of the 2,700 built to carry cargo, troops,

died. Here is a
